ABOUT ANNELISE

Annelise's Story

Annelise was born and raised in upstate New York, where she currently resides. Annelise was born into generational Trauma;*Trigger Warning* her aunt and cousins were murdered at random by a clinically diagnosed psychopath shortly before she was born. Grief and PTSD seemed to rule her upbringing, so she was determined to help guide others in lessening their emotional pain.

Annelise went to college and received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and soon after earned her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling. In her training, Annelise conducted sessions for  individual therapy, couple's therapy, family therapy, group therapy sessions, as well as supervised a group of interns at a local community college. It was during this training that Annelise realized the traditional mental health care system is so, so broken.

After completing her training and receiving her Master's Degree, Annelise knew that staying in this broken system was not aligned with her authentic self. She decided not to continue on with the traditional mental health field. She said no to being burnt out and underpaid. She said no to a system that takes advantage of everyone involved. And she said yes to creating her own.

​

It was right around this time that Annelise experienced the most Earth-shattering news of her life. New legislation was passed that would give the opportunity for the man that killed her family to be released into society. He was supposed to be away for life, and now he might be released every 15 years. The possibility of him getting out turned her entire family's world upside down. 

​

Annelise was dealing with an insurmountable level of fear, anger, and sadness. It was at this time she started the journey of self-healing. Through many therapy sessions, supportive friends, and emotional breakdowns, she found the strength to keep going. Her healing journey connected her with the version of herself she likes the most, her authentic self, for the first time. 

​

In her healing, Annelise found herself. She abandoned the idea of working traditionally as a therapist for a dysfunctional system. She began to invest in education and training that aligned with her own philosophies, such as Reiki Master and Yoga Teacher trainings. She went with what felt right. She realized that she could help people just as effectively (if not more) through holistic healing modalities.

Annelise started The Aura Alchemist as a way to guide others through their healing, in the most natural, meaningful, and realistic way possible. Annelise believes that we are all here to thrive.
